Dr Maris Eastgate (Bourke)
BVMS (Hons), BSc (Veterinary Biology)

Maris grew up in Brisbane surrounded by horses, dogs and cats. She studied at Murdoch University, attaining a BSc (Veterinary Biology) in 1994 and BVMS (1st class merit honours) in 1996. She settled in Redcliffe in 2000 and took over the Scarborough Veterinary Surgery in 2003.
In 2006 Maris completed a post-graduate distance education course in small animal internal medicine, with plans to study acupuncture in the next year or two. For now, she spends most of her spare time chasing after her young family!

Originally from Townsville, I went to vet school in Perth before moving to Brisbane with my partner, Damien, and 2 beautiful cats, Elara and Callista. After working in small animal practice for a few years, I am now completing my PhD at the University of Queensland, investigating poultry vaccines. I look forward to meeting you and your furry friends soon! |

Melissa Lumsden
Cert II Veterinary Nurse
|
 |
Melissa started her vet nursing career with school-based work experience in 2006, at the very young age of 15 years. During her high school years she commenced a school-based traineeship and also completed a Certificate II in Agriculture. Melissa completed her Certificate II in Veterinary Nursing in early 2009 and is about to commence her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
Melissa is especially interested in running our puppy preschool courses and has undertaken further training in this area. She has also recently completed courses in reception skills, animal wellness and nursing consultation through the Crampton Consulting Group.
Melissa’s love for animals extends to her spare time, in which she can be found riding horses, showing cattle, swimming and feeding her chooks, sheep and dogs
